Biographical Notes:

The 3 crew, Charles Gunn, Stanley Bromley and Robert Dent, were flying a Vilderbeest 4, on a 3 hour, anti-submarine escort for the USS Crescent City, en-route from Wellington to Guadalcanal. They took off a 10-05. At 14-30,they did not locate the ship and signalled back to NZ, to be told to return. They acknowledge the signal and were due to land around 15-30. At 16-40 a search was instigated, to no avail.
