Auckland Star Obituary 25 July 1917: " Sergeant George Hulme, reported killed in action, left with the Fourth Reinforcements, and took part in the Gallipolli campaign. He was later sent to France, an...d went through the Flanders and Somme campaigns. He was born in Auckland, and educated at the Newton East and Hamilton West Schools. He also spent eighteen months at the Moscow University, Idaho where his cousin is one of the professors. Sgt Hulme was well known in athletic circles being a prominent runner and swimmer.
