Biographical Notes:

Returning from an abandoned "sortie" to Germany, the crew were instructed to circle at 2000 ft to pending diversion to another airfield, due to poor weather. For reasons unknown they dropped below this height, and flew into high ground 11 miles east of RAF Langar , Nottinghamshire. Two NZ'ers were killed, the Captain, Hannan and Wireless Operator/Gunner, Jenkin, both buried in this cemetery. [For Your Tomorrow, Errol Martyn, Vol1 p.274]
