Biographical Notes:

While conducting aerobatic practice in a Corsair, 8000 ft above Waiheke Island, he went into a spin from which he did not recover. He was seen to bale out, but a search did not find any trace of him or his parachute. Alfred had completed 2 tours in the Pacific and had only returned to New Zealand 2 months before the accident [ For Your Tomorrow, Errol Martyn, Volume 2, Page 327]
