Biographical Notes:

"The death took place at the Sanatorium, Waipukurau, on Tuesday, of Private Samuel Floyd, son of Mr and Mrs Floyd, of Norfolk Street, Patea, and formerly of Inglewood. The deceased served with the New Zealand Forces on the Western Front, where he was badly gassed, and afterwards taken prisoner by the Germans, who kept him working in the mines for some considerable time. The hardships and privations he suffered whilst in the hands of the Huns were responsible for the illness which terminated in his death."
