Biographical Notes:

While attempting a steep diving turn at full power, the starboard wing detached, causing the crash into the Omaka Valley, some 8 miles SW of Woodbourne. John Ferguson was the Pilot Instructor on board with trainee, LAC Alan Hansen, who is buried at Wanganui. [ from For Your Tomorrow, Errol Martyn. Vol 1 p.183.]
