Biographical Notes:

"An inquest was held by Mr. D. G. A, Cooper, S.M., this afternoon on the body of the late Private Thomas Fairley, of the 21st Reinforcements, who enlisted from Caversham, and whose body was fonnd floating in the harbour on the 20th instant. Evidence was given that deceased had overstayed his leave after undergoing dental treatment at the Hospital some days previously. The Coroner returned a verdict of "Found Drowned," there being no evidence to show how he got into the.water."
