"During formation flying this morning halfway between Shannon and Levin, two Air Force planes collided, causing a forced landing of both machines.

Leading Aircraftman Evan Roy Archer was killed. Leading-Aircraftsman Thomas Gordon Griffiths was not injured. The next-of-kin of Leading Aircraftman Archer is Mr. R. Archer, Bank of New Zealand, Te Kuiti."
