Biographical Notes:

On Operation Jubilee, to lay smoke for the Dieppe raid, the Boston bomber of 236 Squadron, on which Laurence Waters was the Wireless Operator/Air Gunner was hit by flak over the target area. Laurence was killed and another crew man injured.  The disabled aircraft was able to return for a crash landing at Gatwick, near where he is buried, in Horley, Surrey.

Laurence's younger brother, Cyril, was killed in an aircraft accident on  March 23rd 1952, flying a Mosquito of  75 Sqdn (Ohakea), while returning from Air Force Day at Woodbourne.
