Biographical Notes:

John Cock first enlisted with the Wellington Infantry Battalion on 13 August 1914. The chronological sequence of his service is:-
15 October 1914 - Embarked from New Zealand on Transport 3 and disembarked at Alexandria on 5 December 1914
29 April 1915 - Wounded left scapula in the Dardanelles
9 June 1915 - Invalided to New Zealand
2 November 1915 - Appointed Lieutenant and posted to 3 Battalion, NZ Rifle Brigade
13 March 1916 - Disembarked Suez
5 April 1916 - Embarked “Franconia” for France from Port Said
31 May 1916 - Wounded in action in field (Arementieres) and hospitalised
1 June 1916 - 14 General Hospital
5 June 1916 - 2 London General Hospital
8 August 1916 - Convalescence Camp (Hornchurch)
7 September 1916 - Placed on NZ Roll and seconded from unit
10 October 1916 - Discharged from NZEF to take up a commission in the Royal Flying Corps
