Biographical Notes:

"Man Found Dead In Ship In Blyth

A foreman trimmer about to start work in a ship at Blyth, yesterday, discovered Stanley M.Calcott lying dead at the bottom of the hold.  Calcott, who was employed in another ship, had apparently been making his way to his own vessel during the black-out of the previous evening and had missed his footing, falling into the hold. The inquest on him at Blyth was adjourned." [Source: Newcastle Journal 31st October 1940]

 

"Cabled advice has been received that Stanley Kenneth Calcott, who was editor of tho Stratford Evening Post several years ago, was killed on active service on October 30. Mr. Calcott left Stratford to join tho staff of the Daily Mail, Johannesburg. South Africa. On the outbreak of war be left South Africa to join the Royal Air Force in England.
