Biographical Notes:

" Two boys playing in Grafton Gully found the body of a member of the Royal New Zealand Navy lying below Grafton Bridge about 4.30 p.m. on Saturday. He was Chief Petty Officer Ellis Grey Bustard, aged 28, married of HMNZS Bellona. Bustard, who was suffering from war neurosis, was an inmate of the military annexe at the Auckland Hospital. He was given leave last Monday but did not return to the hospital. Joining the navy in 1939. he served successively in the cruisers Achilles, Gambia, and Bellona."
