Biographical Notes:

"A resident of Shannon, Mr. Edward George Wood. aged 52, who was employed by the defence authorities as a home guard, was found dead shortly before noon to-day near the Linton railwav station. He had been run over by a train. Mr. Wood leaves a wife and two daughters." [New Zealand Herald, Volume LXXVII, Issue 23786, 14 October 1940, Page 6]
