Biographical Notes:

Private Peter WISEMAN (24th Battalion) RAVENNA Cemetery, Italy
Peter Wiseman was born in Scotland on 27 January, 1910, the son of Peter and Margaret Wiseman.Before enlisting he was a tram conductor and lived with his wife, Henrietta, and child in Ivanhoe Road, Grey Lynn, Auckland. He entered camp at Papakura on 25 June, 1943 and embarked for Egypt on 31 March, 1944 as part of the 11th  Reinforcements. From Egypt he travelled to Italy embarking at Alexandria on 11 July, 1944. He was killed in action on 29 September, 1944.
At the time of Peter Wiseman’s death the Germans were in retreat from the Uso River and were fighting a number of set piece rearguard actions. The Germans eventually established a defensive line north of Scolo Rigosso.
