"The late Sergt. K. C. Warin, who died at the residence of his uncle at Stanley Bay on the 18th inst., was the second son of Mr T. F. Warin, of Warkworth. When war was declared he enlisted and went into camp at Epsom, and sailed with the Main Body. He went to Egypt and after to Gallipoli, and was wounded in the left hand two hours after the landing. He then went to France in March, 1916, and was wounded again on Feb. 21st, 1917, this time in the right elbow. He returned to New Zealand on August 22nd, on the hospital ship "Marama." With the exception of a fortnight since his return he has been all the time in hospital at Auckland, and latterly as an out-patient. He contracted influenza-pneumonia, which proved fatal. His age was 28. The remains were brought to Warkworth and interred in the Church of England cemetery."
