Biographical Notes:

HMS STRONGHOLD (H50) was a British Royal Navy Destroyer of 905 tons built in 1919 by Scotts, Greenock for the Admiralty. She was powered by a steam turbine giving 27,000shp and a speed of 36 knots. On 2 March 1942 a Japanese task group consisting of the heavy cruiser Maya and the destroyers Arashi and Nowaki, belonging to a Japanese carrier force operating S of Java, discovered and sank HMS STRONGHOLD fleeing from Tjilatjap to Australia.
