Biographical Notes:

 

Andrew was born in Kyeburn Central Otago on the 5th June 1888. He had a brother William. Enlisted on the 12th October 1914 age 27. At the time he was employed as a gold miner by William Marslin

Andrew embarked with the Otagos from Port Chalmers Dunedin for Suez on 16th October 1914. On the 12 April he left with the Mediterranean Expiditionary Force bound for Gallipoli.

He was admitted to HS Devanah with dysentery on the 2 May 1915 and then transferred to Convalescent Hospital, 12 May 1915; rejoined unit at Gallipoli 26 May 1915

Wounded in action, 8 August 1915

Court of Enquiry, Moascar, 20 January 1916 concluded believed to be killed on or about 7/8/15

His name is also on the  Livingstone and Naesby Memorial,  Central Otago, NZ  There is also an Oak tree and cross planted in his honour.
