Biographical Notes:

"The death occurred in the Auckland Hospital yesterday morning of Lieutenant John Blythe Stephenson, R.N.V.R., of H.M.S. Achilles. Lieutenant Stephenson, who was 29 and married, was an accountant in Wellington. He had been a keen member of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve for a number of years and was commissioned as a sub-lieutenant in 1935.

After the outbreak of war he underwent courses of instruction and was posted to the Achilles in July. His wife resides in Parnell, and his parents are Mr. and Mrs. F. Stephenson, of Island Bay. Wellington. The funeral will be conducted with full naval honours this afternoon at Waikumete Cemetery. A naval party consisting of 25 officers and 180 ratings will take part, meeting the cortege at the cemetery at 2.10 p.m."
