“SERGEANT D. RHIND. Sergeant David McKnocketer [sic] Rhind has been reported killed in action. The deceased soldier was born at Thornbury 26 years ago and received his education at the Rimu school. Previous to his enlistment in the 6th reinforcements he was engaged in the sawmilling trade.”  [Southland Times, Issue 17889, 19 September 1918, Page 2]
