“LANCE-CORPL. T. MORRIS. Lance-Corporal Thomas Morris, killed in action on August 28, was the son of Mr and Mrs H. Morris, of Tuatapere. He was born at Grasmere 23 years ago, and received his education at the Marist Bros.’ school, where he took part in athletic pastimes. At the time of enlistment Lance-Corporal Morris, who was a motor mechanic by trade, was working on his father’s farm.”  [Southland Times, Issue 17889, 19 September 1918, Page 2]
