Biographical Notes:

On the night of the 4th August 1940, the HMT Oswaldian, a trawler converted for minesweeping, hit a German mine in the Bristol Channel. NZ'er. Douglas Mills was  killed.  His remains were not found and he is remembered on the New Zealand Naval Memorial, Devonport, Auckland.

Another New Zealander, Peter Wass was reported missing, believed drowned. His remains were later recovered, and he is buried at Pawlett in the UK.
