Biographical Notes:

STRUCK HEAD ON BRIDGE. While travelling by train from Featherston en route to the Territorial camp at Waiouru, yesterday, a young man was fatally injured. He was : THOMAS BRIAN McKENNA, aged 19 years, son of Mr and Mrs J. B. McKenna. Wakefield Street. Featherston. He received severe head injuries. In the neighbourhood of Mangamahoe, between Eketahuna and Mauriceville, McKenna apparently put his head out of the carriage window as the train was passing over a bridge. He struck his head and received severe injuries. He was taken from the train at Eketahuna. There he was attended by a doctor and afterward sent by ambulance to Pahiatua. He was admitted to the Pahiatua Hospital where he died at 6. 40 p.m.
