Biographical Notes:

"The death occurred in Wellington a days ago of Mr Norman Donald McCorkindale. aged 31, a son of Mr and Mrs M. McCorkindale, of Elles Road, Invercargill. Mr McCorkindale was born at Waikaka in 1903 and received his education at the Nightcaps School, where he was dux in 1921 Four years later he joined the railway service and was relieving stationmaster at a number of country centres. Early last year he was transferred to Wellington, where he enlisted in the Divisional Signals of the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force. In his day he was well known as an outstanding athlete. He won several Sheffields from scratch and in 1931 had the distinction of winning the New Zealand 100 Yards professional championship."
