Biographical Notes:

While engaged in an exercise with other aircraft, the Hudson, flown by William Marshall and Harold Beard took evasive action, spun in a climbing turn and crashed into the sea near the mouth of the Rangitikei river. The navigator was William Plant, wireless op., John Aubrey and Brian McSweeney was the air-gunner. All were killed and their remains lost to the sea.
