Biographical Notes:

 “Private Andrew Manson, reported missing from 3rd December, left N.Z. with the 28th Reinforcements, so that he could not have been in the trenches more than a month or so. He was born in the Old Country but at an early age came out to New Zealand with his parents. He received his education at the Lower Shotover school, his father being at that time manager of Kawarau Falls Station for the Loan and Mercantile Agency, Ltd. At the time of bis enlistment Private Manson was manager, for the Public Trust, of Duke Bros’ estate, Creighton, and was also a partner with his brother, John Manson, in a station at the Branches. Private Manson took part in the South African war, going out from N.Z as a member of the 8th contingent. His age is 37 years.” [Lake County Press, Issue 2716, 10 January 1918, Page 5]
