Biographical Notes:

"Captain Andrew Henderson Maciver, No. 4 Company, Fourth Machine Gun Battalion, New Zealand Special Force, was killed and Lieutenant James Banbury Clive Greere Watson, No. 2 Company of the same battalion, was injured when they were struck by a motor horsefloat on the Burnham Road, near Burnham Camp, on Saturday, about 7.30 p.m. They were walking south along the road when they were overtaken by the, horse-float. Captain Maciver received injuries including a broken leg and died from these injuries. The victims of the accident were taken by lorry to Rolleston and brought to Christchurch by the St. John Ambulance. Lieutenant Greere Watson’s condition was reported to be satisfactory by the Christchurch Hospital authorities this evening. Captain Maciver was a single man aged 32. He was formerly a member of the staff of the State Advances Corporation, Wellington. Lieutenant Greere Watson, who is aged 38, was formerly attached to the Wellington Regiment. The driver of the horse-float has been arrested."
