Biographical Notes:

"Trooper John Joseph Lloyd, who died at the Coronation Hospital, was a native of Benalla, Victoria. He was at one time a well-known boxer, having won the heavy-weight championship of New Zealand. Trooper Lloyd joined the 6th Reinforcements, and served in Egypt and France, where he was gassed, and invalided home. With an older brother, Thomas. he also saw service in the Boer war. A younger brother. Sergeant Farrier W. P. Lloyd, of the Main Body, is still in Egypt. The deceased was 38 years of age, and leaves a widow and  daughter to mourn their loss."
