Biographical Notes:

The Harvard crewed by Robert Cowper and Derek Lippitt was involved in a mid-air collision, at Blenheim, with another of the school’s Harvard’s which was coming in to land. It was believed that their plane was flying toward the sun, and they could not see the landing pilot in time to take avoiding action. The other pilot, LAC R. Nairn, successfully landed his damaged aircraft.  [For Your Tomorrow, Errol Martyn, Vol. 1 p.207]
