"The death occurred on Monday afternoon, after a brief illness, of Mr. Ross Ashmere Fleming Laurenson, elder son of Mrs. D. F. Laurenson, Rolleston Street. Mr. Laurenson, who was 24 years of age, had recently been posted to the reserve of the R.N.Z.A.F. after some three years’ service, the greater part of which was as a navigator with commissioned rank in the Pacific. He was born in Wellington and educated at the Dilworth School, Auckland, where he had a brilliant record. Enteringthe service of Watkins, Hull, Wheeler, and Johnston, Wellington, he attended Victoria University College and qualified as an accountant in 1941. He enlisted in the R.N.Z.A.F. in 1942 and on his return to civil life he took up his old position and was associated with numerous companies and bodies as an auditor. Mr. Laurenson was a former member of the Wellington Football Club, and also belonged to the V.U.C. Cricket Club. He was a committee man of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants. His brother, Barry is a sergeant pilot in the R.N.Z.A.F. in the Dominion."
