"Mr and Mrs A. R. Hopkins, of Faretai, have received notification of the death of their second son. Private David Horace Hopkins, who was accidentally drowned in Egypt while serving with the Middle East forces. Private Hopkins was born at East Taieri 21 years ago. and finished his education at the Otanomomo School. He was popular in the district."
