Biographical Notes:

The death has occurred of Lieutenant Charles Percy Hine, M.M., aged 49, a well-known resident of Landscape Road Mount Eden. Born at Tarata, he was the son of the late Mr. C. H. Hine. Serving his apprenticeship to the building trade,he came to Auckland and set up as a builder and contractor. Enlisting on the outbreak of the Great War, Lieutenant Hine went overseas with the rank of lieutenant in the New Zealand Rifle Brigade. He was mentioned in dispatches and was awarded the Military Medal. Returning to New' Zealand, Lieutenant Hine again entered the building trade and was well-known and respected in building circles for his integrity. Since the outbreak of this war, Lieutenant Hine had been in command of a platoon of the National Military Reserve until the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, one son and a daughter.
