Esiomoheofo Cemetery

The cemetery, containing only one grave, that of Alan Yealands, is close to the highest point on Eua Island. Visitors should contact a local hotel or lodge to arrange transport and a guide. Please be aware that visiting the site is not easy and a considerable amount of walking, in tropical heat, is required. In drier seasons, it may be possible to take a 4- wheel- drive vehicle near to the cemetery. There are no taxi or public transport services on the island . It may be possible to travel from Nuku'alofa to Eua by ferry, and takes about 9 hours. A flight on Chatham Airlines takes 10 minutes from the International Airport. Book at the Air New Zealand office in Nuku'alofa.
