Birkenhead (Landican) Crematorium

Historical Information: 

The Crematorium was opened in 1934 and is situated in Birkenhead (Landican) Cemetery. The names of nearly 40, 1939-1945 war casualties are inscribed on a screen wall of Portland stone which stands facing towards the Cross of Sacrifice in the War Graves Plot in the cemetery. The screen wall also bears the following inscription: 1939 - 1945 THE SAILORS SOLDIERS AND AIRMEN COMMEMORATED HERE DIED IN THE SERVICE OF THEIR COUNTRY AND WERE CREMATED
