Biographical Notes:

".lust before midnight an accident occurred at the Lower Hutt railway station, by which Sergeant W R. McVicar, of the C Company,19th Reinforcements, lost his life. The last troop train bound for Trentham was entering the station at reduced speed preparatory to stopping, when McVicar attempted to board one of the carriages. He missed his grip and fell between the carriages and platform. The driver applied the brakes promptly, but when McVicar was located lie was found terribly mangled about the legs and head. Death was almost instantaneous. Deceased is thought to be married."
