Biographical Notes:

"A young man. Trooper Thomas Wingfield, was found dead in King Street, Mosgiel, yesterday. Constable Sorrell reported the matter to the Superintendent of Police and the Coroner, but as a medical certificate that death was due to heart trouble brought on by influenza was given by Dr Allan, an inquest was doomed unnecessary. The man had seen service at the front, and returned to New Zealand some time ago."
