The sudden death of a returned soldier named Thomas McNamara, a brother of Mrs A- M. Hansen, of Geraldine, occurred on Saturday last. He had been watching a cricket match, and had returned to town when he expired in a tea room where he had gone for some refreshment. An inquest was held on Tuesday by Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., District Coroner, at which evidence was given by Thomas Burke, who was with deceased at the time of his death, Dr. Paterson, medical officer, who conducted a post mortem examination, and Mr A. M. Hansen, brother-in-law of deceased. A verdict was given in accordance with the medical evidence, which was to the effect that deceased had died from embolism of his artery of the heart. The Coroner extended his sympathy to the deceased’s relatives.
