Biographical Notes:

(P.A.) WHANGAREI, This Day. Sergeant Reginald Wilfred Hewetson (22), of Te Kopuru, was killed, and Sergeant Eric Petchell (26). injured, when an Army truck skidded in loose metal near Hikurangi last evening.

Hewetson was pinned under the truck and was not extricated for 20 minutes.
