Biographical Notes:

“The death occurred on Sunday of Mr Reg. Brosnan, a member of the Main Body of the 1914 Expeditionary Force and a prominent member of the Merivale Football Club. Mr Brosnan enlisted as a private in the Main Body and served in Egypt and later on Gallipoli, where he was twice wounded. After the evacuation of Gallipoli he went with the New Zealand Forces to France, and after the Battle of the Somme in 1916 he was granted a commission. At Passchendaele he was again wounded, and was then invalided to New Zealand. Mr Brosnan did good work for the Merivale Club and played through all the grades. When the present war broke out Mr Brosnan was one of the first to enlist, and he was on the the staff at Burnham up till the time of his death. The funeral took place at Bromley yesterday, when there were present many returned soldiers and representatives of different football clubs.” [Press, Volume LXXVII, Issue 23358, 18 June 1941, p8]
