Biographical Notes:

Norman was amongst the first casualties of WW1 sent back to NZ. He never landed at Gallipoli, becoming ill with gastritis and diahorrea on board ship. He was returned to Egypt with the horses. It s not clear how he eventually died. We know that he spent a lot of the time in hospital in NZ, still suffering from the same afflictions.
