Biographical Notes:

Harvard trainer crashed into trees whilst flying low. The Pilot was Plt. Off. Louis Gumbley and Cpl Eric Bell was a passenger. Bell had recently transferred from the Army and was engaged on airfield defence while undergoing flight training. Although Bell’s headstone states” night flying” the accident happened during summertime at around 8pm. [source: For Your Tomorrow, Errol Martyn, Vol2 p 56]
