 "It is officially announced that an airman pilot under training. Leading Aircraftman John Keith Rutherfurd, lost his life in an aircraft accident during a forced landing practice at a South Island [ RNZAF Woodbourne] air station on Saturday. Leading Aircraftman Rutherfurd's father is Mr. J. W. Rutherfurd of Palmerston North."
