Biographical Notes:

“The death has occurred through drowning, at Colombo, of Mr John Brown, who was a member of the 7th Reinforcements. It is coincidence that his brother Rob, met with a similar fate, having been drowned in a pool of water, in the Maungatawhiri Valley, some twelve months past. The late Mr John Brown, like his brother, spent most of his time working on farms in the Valley. At the time of his departure from the district he was employed on Messrs Friedlander Bros.' Surrey farm. He was of kindly disposition and extremely popular at social functions held in the district, which he regularly attended.” [Pukekohe & Waiuku Times, Volume 4, Issue 109, 17 November 1915, Page 2]
