Biographical Notes:

"A military funeral was accorded the late Second-Lieutenant Jack Pennington, a member of the Guards Vital  Points, at the Purewa cemetery yesterday. Staff-sergeants of the unit acted as pall-bearers. Lieutenant Pennington, who was 41, was a member of the Legion of Frontiersmen and on the outbreak of war he joined the National Military Reserve. He received his commission while he was in hospital. He was the youngest son of Mr. F. W. Pennington, of  Auckland, and is survived by his wife and two children. " [New Zealand Herald, Volume 79, Issue 24283, 26 May 1942, Page 4]
