Biographical Notes:

"Corporal Horace Edward Jenkinson, died from wounds, was the son of Mr J. E. Jenkinson, late M.L.C., well known in Dunedin and Port Molyneux districts a few years ago. The deceased, who was born in Wellington 24 years ago, after leaving Wellington College, took up journalistic work, and was on the staff of the Dominion when he volunteered for service in Samoa. Invalided back to New Zealand, he resumed journalistic work, but on his health improving he joined the Expeditionary Force and left as corporal nine months ago. He was an enthusiastic swimmer, water polo player, a yachtsman, and motor cyclist. His brother, Sergeant Edgar Jenkinson, left with the Main Body, and is still serving in France."
