Biographical Notes:

Whilst on leave in Auckland, Harry fell down a goods lift shaft in Williamson's Buildings in Shortland St, whilst visiting Hedley Taylor, son of the caretaker. The inquest was told that the hydraulic lift had risen some 4 feet from the floor and Hedley Taylor had reached for a rope, under the cage to pull the cage back down. It seems that Henry had reached up for the floor of the cage to assist him, but slipped and fell some 40 feet.
