Biographical Notes:

“CORPORAL RHIND. Advice has been received that Corporal Hector Rhind, who left with the Fourth Reinforcements, has been killed in action in France. Corporal Rhind was the seventh son of the late Alex. Rhind, grain grader, of Lyttelton, and his mother resides at Opawa. He was nineteen years of age, and went through the Gallipoli campaign. After being wounded in the chest, Corporal Rhind returned to the Peninsula and was there until the evacuation. Two of his brothers, Sergeant Ernest Rhind, of the Sevenths, and Private Cecil Rhind, of the Seventeenths, are on active service, and another brother, Sergeant Harold Rhind, returned from the front recently after gaining the D.C.M..” [Star (Christchurch), Issue 11822, 6 October 1916, Page 6]
