Biographical Notes:

Trooper Graham Turner, aged 21, of Tokoroa, received head injuries from which he died when the tank of which he was acting commander capsized near Whangarei today. The driver, who was the only other occupant of the tank, was uninjured, but suffered shock. Heavy rain had fallen before the accident.  At the inquest. Lieutenant Burgess said that before entering the Army, Turner had assisted his parents on their farm. Turner left camp as a gunner in a tank to go on exercises. Witness received information of the accident several miles from the camp. He saw the tank off the road in some scrub, lying on its side. The inquest was adjourned.
