Biographical Notes:

At the time of his death, George was posted as an instructor at 73 OTU, based at Fayid, Egypt.
It is not clear why the Tiger Moth was flying from the Royal Navy Aircraft Repair Yard at Fayid, piloted by Plt Off Johnstone with  George Carr aboard, as he had no association with the Fleet Air Arm, and may have been a casual flight in the type, which was not on the strength of the unit.

The plane stalled following a low loop and struck the ground wheels first, breaking up. Plt Off Johnstone survived with injuries.
