Biographical Notes:

"Private George Thornton (died of wounds) was the youngest son of Mr George Thornton, of North Auckland, and was well and popularly known in racing circles, being owner of the hurdler, Master Regel. A brother (Jas. Thornton) was wounded while serving in France, and a third ('Ken" Thornton) is at present serving in Palestine." (Press (1917))
