Biographical Notes:

"Admitted to the Rotorua Hospital on November 10 last in a critical condition with serious injuries suffered in the State forestry area at Te Whaiti, Mr. Frank Balfour Rhodes, aged 30, bushman, died the same night. At the inquest held in Rotorua the coroner, Mr. W. L. Richards, returned a verdict that death had been accidental and that Mr. Rhodes had died as the result of severe injuries to the chest and shock. The coroner commented that a sad feature of the case was that deceased had been on furlough after serving in the Middle East."
